Volunteer of the Month

They say it takes a village, and volunteers are our village! Volunteers give so much of their time to Discovery, helping make sure our kids have the best school experience possible. While we can never fully repay our volunteers for all they do, we’ll be selecting a “Volunteer of the Month” to give them much-deserved recognition. When you see a volunteer at school, be sure to thank them!

Here’s a little more about Joanne: If you’ve seen (or smelled!) the popcorn machine running at Discovery, chances are you’ve seen Joanne. But her contributions to our school extend far beyond popcorn...from helping with the art docent program to assisting as room parent, a classroom helper, and making sure our staff feels the love during Staff Appreciation week, Joanne dabbles in everything. She also works to encourage other grandparents and parents to volunteer.
Get to know a little more about Joanne Family Ties to Discovery: Joanne has two grandkids at Discovery; Isabel (5th grade) and Jacob (3rd grade). Why Joanne volunteers: seeing the pride and excitement on the faces of her grandchildren when they see her helping at Discovery is all the motivation Joanne needs to volunteer. Fun fact: when not at Discovery volunteering, Joanne can be found outdoors: she loves hiking, snowshoeing and kayaking.
