Volunteer of the Month

January 2020

They say it takes a village, and volunteers are our village! Volunteers give so much of their time to Discovery, helping make sure our kids have the best school experience possible. While we can never fully repay our volunteers for all they do, we’ll be selecting a “Volunteer of the Month” to give them much-deserved recognition. When you see a volunteer at school, be sure to thank them!

Novilia is in her first year of volunteering at Discovery, and is already making a huge impact! Along with helping out in her children’s classrooms, she has also worked on Spooky Spaghetti and our Holiday Cookies for Staff event. Willing and able to do whatever it takes — and with a friendly smile — Novilia is proving herself to be a vital part of the Discovery volunteer team.

Get to know a little more about Novilia

Family Ties to Discovery: Novilia has three kids at Discovery; Ethan (5th grade), Joey (3rd grade) and Rayne (Kindergarten).

Why Novilia volunteers: after raising three kids as a full-time stay at home mom, Novilia was excited to give back to Discovery once all of her kids were at school. Raised in Indonesia, all of her formal schooling was abroad, so she was very eager to see what a US school was like. As Novilia says, “I’m always excited to invest my time at the school; it means I can see how all of the students are doing, learn about the many programs the school offers, and even see how the classrooms are decorated.”

Fun fact: Novilia’s favorite color is orange and she loves almost all kinds of noodles!

Thank you Novilia for everything you do for Discovery!
