Membership Chair Caroline B. Promote and organize our membership drive each Fall to ensure 100% membership. Process forms, payments and data entry into the WA State PTA membership database. See full description
Director of Fundraising Leone N. Oversees all fundraising activities. Implements or modifies fundraising activities as needed. See full description
Director of Programs Open Oversees all non-fundraising events and programs. Implements or modifies programs as needed according to the needs of the student population. See full description
Director of Volunteers Ruoyun Z. Recruits, organizes and trains volunteers. See full description
Advocacy & Legislative Chair Open Keeps the board and general membership informed of local and state legislation taking place in regards to the education system. Attends convention and any other relevant events.
Webmaster Sasi D. Maintains the PTSA website. Works with the Communications Director. See full description
Book Drive Tina A. Organize the Spring Dr. Seuss Book Drive which takes place at Discovery. Work with the librarian(s) and the school to plan the event.
Box Tops Mary N. Organize the Box Tops & Labels for the school. Clip, sort & count the labels and mail them in according to the deadline. Organize classroom competition and prizes.
Bus Greeters Open Helps get the wheels rolling during the first week of school. Bus greeters meet kindergarteners as they exit the bus at school. They will help kids learn their bus numbers, by writing the bus number on their hand as they exit the bus. After school, they hold signs with bus numbers and assist children to get to the correct bus.
Holiday Gift Barn Lisa N. Organizes food & clothing drives based upon the needs of our community and oversee the Caring Through Sharing Program.
Library Volunteer Coodinator Portia W. Library Volunteers play an important role in partner with the Librarian. Training will be provided before you begin.
Eager Reader Stephanie M. Organize and facilitate this wonderful reading program including buying of books, procuring prizes and tracking minutes read. This is a school year long program.
Family Fun Night Event is currently cancelled Relatively large event. Chair person helps plan and organize this fun and family-oriented social activity in the spring.
Golden Acorn/Outstanding Educator Open The Golden Acorn Award honors people who have given exemplary volunteer service to children and youth in our school community. Last Year's winners solicit nominations and organize the Golden Acorn and Outstanding Educator Awards.
ISF Representative Cloe Z. & Matt C. The ISF representative is Discovery's liaison to the Issaquah Schools Foundation. The ISF Rep promotes the foundation's message and recruits volunteers for honk & wave and other activities.

Students love Popcorn Fridays! The Chair coordinates volunteers to pass out popcorn the first Friday of every month during lunch.
Reflections Leslie M. Reflections is a National PTA art program. Each year, students are recognized for bringing the theme to life through dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts. Distributes information about theme, accepts entries, recruits judges, and submits them to district level.
School Supply Kits Nichole A. Organizes and implements the sale of school supplies to families for the upcoming year.
STEM Fair Praj G. The Science Fair chair facilitates science fair entries for all grade levels and organizes Science Fair Night.
Spelling Bee Smita D. Annual Spelling Bee requires passing on from the qualifying written events before moving on to the oral spelling bees and championship round.
Spirit Wear Linda A. The Spirit Wear Chair/co-chair promote and sell Discovery t-shirts, sweatshirt etc. during the school year. Works with vendor on samples, logo etc. for gear.
Spirit Week Linda A. Dress up in the theme of that day and cheer on our amazing Discovery students as they enter the building during Spirit Week. Let's create some excitement and show our Eagle Pride!
Staff Appreciation Week Open The Staff Appreciation Chair/Co-chair plans and organizes one week of activities in May to thank Discovery's fabulous teachers and staff.
Multicultural Night Event is currently cancelled A night of tastes! Come to the annual Taste of Discovery. Sign up to bring samples of a family favorite recipe, a cultural food tradition or a decadent treat for all to try.
Vision & Hearing Screening Open For Discovery Vision and Hearing Testing Day, the Chair/co-chair provides volunteers to assist the school nurse with the testing.
Yearbook Linda A., Cheng S. Coordinates all aspects of the yearbook including: candid pictures, design & layout of the book, marketing sales of the books, and distribution of the yearbooks the last week of school.
Movie Night Event is currently cancelled A fun and free event for the whole family.
Back to School Social Event is currently cancelled Organizes the family BBQ at the beginning of the school year including: RSVPs, food and beverage.
Spooky Spaghetti Event is currently cancelled (Noreen A.) Bring the family, dress in your costumes, and enjoy dinner and a ghoulish good time!
5th Grade Promotion Open Coordinates the graduation ceremony for the Discovery 5th graders moving on to middle school. 5th grade parents on the team are responsible for the ceremony itself while several 4th grade parents provide and serve treats and beverages.
Talent Show Event is currently cancelled "Discovery's Got Talent" Just like the reality show on tv, your student gets to perform in front of an audience. Students create a 1 minute act to present at auditions and perform in a one evening show.
Coffee & Cry Event is currently cancelled Join new kindergarten and ECE parents after the morning drop off on the first day of school to enjoy some coffee and tears together.
