Discovery Elementary Emergency Kits for the 2016-17 School Year!

At Discovery emergency preparedness is important. Each of the classrooms us equipped with emergency supplies and water. As a supplement to this, we are asking every family to prepare a small emergency kit filled with food/snacks to be used specifically for your child in an emergency situation. Emergency kits are not used during the school year will be returned home at the end of the year.

Please use a gallon Ziplock bag and label the bag with your child's name, grade and teacher!!!!

** Return back to your child's teacher by Monday, September 19th **

The non-perishable food should not expire( or rot) before the end of the school year. It cannot require cooking or heating( ie. cans of soup or top ramen) and must fit in one gallon Ziplock bag.

Suggested Items:

- Food items such as granola bars, trail mix, dried fruit or beef jerky or turkey jerky. Comfort foods like hard candies or cookies.

- Notes of comfort from parents, siblings and/or other family members.

- Family pictures.

- A mini- flashlight with batteries or a 12-hour light stick.
