They say it takes a village, and volunteers are our village! Volunteers give so much of their time to Discovery, helping make sure our kids have the best school experience possible. While we can never fully repay our volunteers for all they do, we’ll be selecting a “Volunteer of the Month” to give them much-deserved recognition. When you see a volunteer at school, be sure to thank them!

TERESA BACKUS

Here’s a little more about Teresa:

I love having a chance to see my children at school, I will treasure this time forever. Helping in library each year and watching the kids grow and develop a love of reading. I especially enjoy the morning rush, I wish this wasn’t my last year at Discovery.

I love Popcorn Friday! It is wonderful to see how excited the students get.

Favorite Volunteer Activity: Bus Greeter, Yearbook Photographer, Picture Day, Running Club, Vision and Hearing Testing, Library Helper, Popcorn Friday, and Camp Colman.

Family Ties to Discovery: Carter 5th grade Ms Bieck’s class. Jackson 9th grade at Skyline.

Fun Fact: When not at the school, I can be found at the hockey rink watching my favorite goalie.
