What is STEM and why is it important?
STEM curriculum is based on 4 specific areas: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

STEM is designed to guide students on how to think critically and evaluate information. Plus, it teaches students how to apply knowledge, research topics, and develop skills to solve problems.

Washington State is the national STEM leader and the state ranks 2nd in STEM jobs throughout the country. The Discovery Elementary PTSA is committed to continuing this fantastic event in order to prepare our students for better academic and job potential through creative problem solving, mathematical vigor, engineering practices, and scientific exploration.

STEM education is an interdisciplinary approach to learning where rigorous  academic concepts
are combined with real world applications.

This year, we are changing the format to a more focused STEM curriculum.
Students will pick a domain and work on a project.

At the Discovery STEM Fair, students are encouraged to use their creativity to:

DISCOVER about the world around you
with the scientific method!

OR

DESIGN a solution to a problem
using the engineering design process!

OR

DEMONSTRATE a technology project or math concept!

You must register for this event to participate. Space is limited. The deadline to register is April 19, 2019.
