Highly Capable Screening Test Results Available on Family Access for Current Kindergarten Students.

Screening of current kindergarten students for our highly capable program is complete. Those students who scored at or above the 97th percentile on the CogAT screener (Cognitive Abilities Test) are eligible for further testing for possible selection into the Primary Enrichment Program.

Parents of students who have qualified for further testing will receive a letter regarding the next level of assessment.

The Issaquah School District administers the CogAT for determining possible selection for the Highly Capable Program. The CogAT screener is a norm-referenced test and the national average is the 50th percentile. Questions in the test show how well students use reasoning skills to solve problems for which they have not been directly taught. For this reason, the test questions do not parallel what the students are learning in school. Therefore, the score on the screener does not equate with your student’s grade level achievement or report card standing.

To view your child’s CogAT screener results, please log in to Family Access. Scores will be available at the end of the day on Wednesday, November 30th.
